COMMUNITY: commitment to CBE and LSDBE
The EastBanc-W.D.C. Partners team is 100% CBE certified by the District of Columbia’s Department of Small and Local Business Development. In addition, all of the principals(owners of every company in the joint venture partnership) and all the lead staff people are long-time District of Columbia residents, business owners and participants in local civic life.
The team is committed to hiring local contractors and employing local residents to work on this project. To this end we will execute:
a. a CBE Agreement with the District committing to a minimum 35% of eligible dollars spent on this project to go to CBE contractors;
b. A First Source agreement with the Department of Employment Services committing that at least 51% of new hires be DC residents;
c. An agreement that no less than 20% of the developer equity in the partnership will be held by LDSBE partners; and
d. An agreement to create apprenticeship programs to train District of Columbia residents for jobs in the construction industry.
The EastBanc-W.D.C. Partners team philosophy is one of inclusion. We will work from the ground up to ensure participation by local, small businesses certified by the District of Columbia and those not certified but still a vital part of the neighborhood fabric. Our community outreach program relies heavily upon being able to reach out to residents and businesses in the community through existing organizations with active memberships of concerned neighborhood participants. It is important to note that EastBanc, Inc. is a District based firm, located in Ward 2 and a Certified Business Enterprise by the District of Columbia’s Department of Small and Local Business development.
